Sports and Reconditioning Masseur

Description of Education

A vocational course of Sports and Reconditioning Masseur is classified among personal and operational services. Graduate´s competencies include the implementation of various types of massages and other manual treatments according to the current state of health as well as the client´s requirements. A graduate is also competent to provide counselling services in the field of physical activity, healthy lifestyle and body care. As part of the physical procedures, a graduate may perform hydrotherapy or thermotherapy procedures.
The teaching language is Czech.

Organisation of Education

The education is organised in a four-year day course with a school-leaving examination - maturita. Teaching takes places in classrooms for general education subjects and in vocational classrooms. Pupils participate in a coherent four-week work practice course in the third year of their study at selected workplaces.

Graduate Profile

The education programme provides knowledge and skills that enables the graduate to perform the following tasks and positions:  

• performing various types of massage and reconditioning techniques and applying them in practice on the basis of anamnesis
• advising on the type of massage and reconditioning techniques in accordance with client´s requirements
• being an autonomous worker; providing professional massage services in its own facilities, studios, fitness centres, sports clubs and spa facilities
• working in the field of social services, including homes for the elderly
• performing activities and counselling in the framework of preventive, reconditioning and regeneration programmes
• creating suitable educational and reconditioning programmes
• advising on the principles of healthy lifestyle
• running a private practice based on business and economic practice
