[You will get a deep insight into all laboratory methods associated with diagnostics. You will master a laboratory technician’s routine, and expand your knowledge of various areas of microbiology, hematology, biochemistry, histology, cytology, toxicology, molecular biology and genetics. You will gain professional competence as an independent and qualified healthcare worker both in healthcare and in private laboratories, scientific and research teams, veterinary medicine, hygiene services, water and food industries.]
A three-year tertiary professional education is concluded with the final professional examination (absolutorium). The graduate meets professional competence requirements in accordance with Act No 96/2004 Coll. on non-medical health professions. His or her job is focused on diagnostic laboratory work. Since being fully qualified, there is no need for further supervision and he or she can perform acquired skills independently both in clinical and non-clinical laboratories.
The teaching language is Czech.
It is a three-year programme. Tuition takes place on the school premises in Lipová Street. The school year is divided into 2 terms – winter and summer terms. Each term is concluded with the exam period. Theoretical tuition takes place at school and includes not only lesson plans according to the curriculum, but also self-study exam preparation.
Practical training is organised both in school and hospital laboratories. It aims at acquiring skills and knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and sample preparation techniques. Practical training is an every year integral part of the curriculum.
The laboratory technician performs activities in accordance with Decree No 55/2011 Coll. as amended.
