Do you prefer working independently, are you responsible and keen on research? Then this course is right for you. You will discover the secrets of the microscopic world. You will be able to analyse blood composition and spot signs of disease. You will identify individual cell types, recognise all human body tissues and distinguish pathogens under a microscope. You can work in labs with the latest laboratory technology.
The course is aimed at primary school graduates. The first two years of study are focused on general education subjects. In specialised subjects pupils first obtain basic knowledge and skills e.g. Laboratory Techniques, Somatology, First Aid, Pathology and Analytical Chemistry. In the third year of studies, the emphasis is shifted to specialised maturita subjects including Clinical Biochemistry (examines and evaluates metabolism disordes in the organism), Histology (providing basic cytological information, general histological data and microscopic anatomy knowledge), Haematology (a discipline dealing with blood and blood disorders) and Microbiology (comprising bacteriology, virology, mycology and parasitology, as well as basic imunology and epidemiology).
The teaching language is Czech.
The education is organised in a four-year day course with a school-leaving examination - maturita. The course includes specialised training in the disciplines of biochemistry, haematology, transfusiology, histology, histological techniques and microbiology that take place in school laboratories in Lipová street along with laboratories of Brno hospitals. At the end of the third year, pupils participate in a coherent four-week work practice performed in both hospital and private laboratories.
